If you've been waiting on the Phoenix Symphony, here's the news: the board and musicians announced Friday that performances will resume Nov. 12. AZ Family reports the concerts run through Dec. 31, and more fundraising is needed to continue into the 2027 season.
- Benefit concert: Sun., Nov. 8, Monroe Street Abbey, downtown Phoenix
- Benefit proceeds: go directly to musicians hurt by the layoff
- New American Symphony Commission: 11 members, chaired by Graham and Opatmy
The board says the commission's goal is a "sustainable plan for the nearly 80-year-old institution." Peter Kjome, the Symphony's president and CEO, said, "Just days ago, we faced the heartbreaking prospect of a silent concert hall and an uncertain future." It's unclear who gave or how much. The board says it will recognize those donors in a later announcement.
